Ealing Mencap

Who are they?

Established in 1965 and part of the Mencap network, Ealing Mencap aims to change lives for the better by providing support and services to enable children and adults with learning and other disabilities the opportunity to achieve their full potential and live as independently as possible.

The Challenge

The Ealing Mencap team came to Feelingpeaky for help as they had recognised that there needed to be an improved clarity in the messaging around their offer, services and solutions. A key area of focus for the project was to clarify the Ealing Mencap tone of voice and key value propositions.

It was felt that the website was not up to standard and should be a place that various audiences can go to to find, engage and act on information. Many visitors (especially referrers) need to be able to find out quickly what Ealing Mencap offers and how they might use or refer the services, however this information was a little hidden in the website which made it difficult to find and act on.

The website needed to be fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile devices and be SEO optimised. Following closely behind the launch of the website the messaging needed to carried across to a ‘leave-behind’ brochure.

The Solution

The first stage of the project was to establish the key messaging and tone of voice of Ealing Mencap and this meant rolling up our sleeves and conducting the necessary research which included:

• A short survey for 10-20 members of Ealing Mencap key audiences

• Face to face meetings with two key Ealing Mencap team members

• Workshops with Ealing Mencap staff members

• A review of existing materials (eg testimonials and marketing materials)

• A competitor audit

Once this research phase was completed we were able to develop and agree key propositions, messaging and tone of voice with the client. Copy was written for the new website and a leave-behind brochure and handouts followed for specific audiences.

The Outcome

A engaging website, structured to support audiences finding the information they are looking for. A central resource to communicate and keep people up to date on everything Ealing Mencap. Supported by a brochure to introduce the charity and the range of services it can provide to prospective partners.

“I would like to thank you all for your fantastic work designing and creating our new website and brochure. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you throughout the process and I am delighted with the end result. You have worked so well to turn my visions and aspirations into great products, and the website and brochure speak for themselves.”
