The Pilgrim Trust

Who are they?

The Pilgrim Trust is an independent charitable trust set up in 1930 to support the urgent and future needs of the UK. Each year, they give around £3 million in grants to charities and other public bodies that focus on preserving the UK’s heritage or on bringing about social change.

 

The Challenge

The Pilgrim Trust’s previous website was built in 2013 and looked out of date and compared unfavourably with fellow Trusts and Foundations. The old website was built with custom code which limited flexibility in presentation, it was also not mobile-friendly and had several accessibility issues.

Similarly, the Trust’s visual identity felt dated. The team were keen that along with the website development, the visual identity of the Trust be refreshed to better reflect their work. They wanted a visual identity that was simple, clean and elegant.

Finally, some key stakeholders felt that the Trust was much better known for its preservation and scholarship fund (heritage). Therefore, the new design and site must also showcase their other funding angle: social change within the women and girls’ sector.

The Solution

A strong, clean and elegant visual identity to help shine a light on the philanthropy of the Pilgrim Trust.

A responsive and accessible website with refreshed branding that presents the various grant areas and grants clearly and in a way that is logical and informative. This provides visitors with easily accessible and useful information to help them understand their eligibility to apply for grants.

Supporting brand assets – these will help build out the brand touchpoints in a consistent way and cover social media assets and letterhead.
